Thanks for that kind of help.

As you may, or may not know, I’m a long time Last.fm user. I mostly use it for the cool charts and graphs, but I’ve been scrobbling for almost 3 years now. As a mac-user I use a combo of  iTunes + iScrobbler,  which has yet to fail me. And everything is fine, except for one thing. THIS.

Wow, thanks for the info.

Wow, thanks for the info.

I swear, every time I unplug my phone from my computer, this pops up. “An iPod has been ejected”. Aw, thanks for the news, I would’ve never figured that out! i know that it’s been ejected, I did it myself, there’s no need for you to remind me about this!

You know what’s worse? There is no way to disable it. No. Fucking. Way. I’ve been putting up with this for the last, what, half a year? But now my patience is running out. I’m at my limit. I don’t even have the god damned iPod submissions turned on! This popup is not necessary! It’s bullshit! I looked half a million times into the app preferences, but there is no way to get rid of this. Google gives up. There’s not even a “don’t show this message again” box. What were they thinking?

Eh, next time I decide to unplug my iphone I’ve got to stay away from sharp objects.

I have a fetish for scenery porn.

Aww, so nice...

Aww, so nice...

I’ve always wondered why am I such a sucker for the slice-of-life anime series. While having nothing particular happening through the episode, little to none storyline, and a very, very slow pace, they always seemed to somehow keep me glued to the screen/wanting to read another page. The laid-back atmosphere and overall dreamy mood of shows like Aria or mangas like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou was always very appealing to me for some reason. It was always kind of confusing for me, but I just, thought ‘well, it’s just I’m a calm person, so that’s why I have liking to this kind of stuff’.

She just walked for the entire chapter.

She just walked for the entire chapter.

But it’s not the story or the characters that make these shows. It’s the world. It’s the ability of the artist to create a powerful, enchanting world, that just makes you want to explore it and get to know it better. Take for example Hitoshi Ashinano, the creator of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. The image of flooded Japan he created is one of the best if not the best story setting I’ve ever seen. The abandoned streets and towns, submerged electricity poles and street lamps glowing from underwater all create this magical experience which lasts for all 14 volumes of the series. Moreover, he managed to do it again with his another work, Position, and yet again with Kabu no Isaki.

Or Aria - take any episode of the 3 TV series, and click randomly on the video scroll bar, chances are you’ll get a beutiful view of the city just waiting to be sreencap’d. This show is another example on how the scenery itself can make the whole thing a masterpiece. The characers, undines, just take the role of carriers who take us through the mysterious city of Neo-Venezia. Sometimes funny, sometimes downright creepy, every episode adds a new piece to the mystery-filled world.

The OVA version of this scene is eve better.

The OVA version of this scene is even better.

So, now you can see what all this does to me. It makes me write poetic crap. The truth is, this is just scenery porn, and I’m a big fat pervert for that.

But man, isn’t that view beautiful…?

Screw you, iPhone.

You little piece of money-sucking shit, you ruined me.

Staring accusingly at the iPhone

Staring accusingly at the iPhone

Seriously, I’m broke. It’s all because of this goddamn phone and its app store. So in addition to paying a lot for the data plan, every day I end up going up and down through the list of apps looking for something for myself.

And now, with the recent upgrade to firmware version 3.0, and the usual restore-jailbreak-set everything up from the beginning, only to find out that something fucked up, and you have to start all over - it has struck me yet again. Being the poor student that I am, I pretty much wasted all the pennies that were left on my account for some crappy apps that I will probably only use once in five years. Hell, they even blocked me from further purchases for not having enough money to pay for all this shit.

So here I am, weeping with sorrow with equivalent of 4 US dollars left on my account. Apple, you won this one. You totally got me. Oh, what’s this? Hey, that looks like a cool little app…

Wait…

Fuck.
